"Colours" Dichroic Fused Glass and Sterling Silver Necklace

Inspired by the magnificence of dichroic fused art glass, cabochons of art glass have been hand wired with Sterling Silver wire to create a large and very bold necklace. Each piece of art glass is like peering into a galaxy of color with layers of texture and beauty! The large focal pendant at the front measures 2 inches by 1 1/2 inches. The cabochons range in size from 17mm, 27mm, and 20mm x 28mm in the rectangles stationed outtermost in the composition. Impossible to adequately capture in a picture. Each station of art glass is an absolute treasure of artful expression that is far beyond the norm.

Year:
2008
Materials:
Fused Dichroic Glass, 18 gauge Sterling Silver wire, Soldered Sterling Silver Link Chain, Sterling Silver lobster Clasp
Construction:
Various sizes of art glass cabochons are channel cut around their perimeters with a diamond blade, then hand wire wrapped with Sterling Silver wire. Double links of Sterling Silver connect each link for a long enduring quality. An interesting twist in necklace composition is the Sterling Silver chain. Two Flat rectangle Sterling Silver beads with Greek Key motifs finish the colorful links as they proceed to the back of the neck, where the chain begins. This colorful linkage as a length of 13 inches. Beyond that, the chain is continuous, with a low profile lobster clasp about three inches beyond the last bead. The chain continues without interruption to the opposite side and the lobster clasp may be attached at anypoint to create any length from about 16 inches on. This creates a lovely drape of Silver chain in a long loop at the back! It's soldered link chain of sufficient gauge to provide a secure and long lasting support for all of this fabulous art glass!
