Biography

American artist Lowell Fox was born in the states, and has lived and worked throughout Texas, the South & Southwest, across much of Mexico and all across Canada coast to coast for many years; supporting his family in the lumber industry and with his painting, shown in many prestigious galleries, and by playing blues and jazz piano as well with bands in clubs, concerts, on tours, recording sessions, t.v. and in a few just way too "colorful" dives, it's true. Lowell has painted all his life, since a small child. He has given much to charities that he feels make a real contribution. He lives with his wife, an author and educator, painting in the small fishing town of Sebastian on Florida's Atlantic coast...a Florida resident since '91.

Statements

I make art...

for the joy of discovering,
the thrill of the art process:
the journey, the decisions and
the choices weighed...

...in hopes of the viewer experiencing the same drama,
the romance and the truth of the subject portrayed...

to hopefully experience
a thought expressed precisely...

thus bringing some added measure of spirit and culture to the meeting
of viewer and painting.

My inspiration is the question:
how best to present "that" thought.

My primary focus is on the process and the materials.

My purpose is to share that genesis of thought.

My hope is to have stated it like no other.

Styles

Creative Tools Used

I offer directly from my studio the following choices:

Original Paintings
Giclées on canvas - any size you may require. each hand-work/signed
Limited Edition Giclées on fine art paper (some with remarque**)
Commissioned Paintings - open to your vision and ideas. email me.

Techniques

I still paint the old fashioned way; on an easel with paint and canvas and brushes and all of that.

I create an image, usually an acrylic on canvas and then I have that work photographed and catalogued in special studio facilities. These are the images you see on my website.

If it is decided that a giclee will be produced, I color correct and approve the proofs with the team.

The image is then "giclée'd" either on

- paper in a signed, limited edition of only 195

or

on a new canvas I will further develop and advance to the final image you will own. A unique piece. An original painting on giclee.
