Is it REAL?!
Henna body art is the application of paste made from the leaves of the henna plant that results in a brown stain on the skin lasting 1-3 weeks. Henna is used to celebrate and to heal... during weddings and rights of passage... on both men and women... during times of celebration or grief... or for just no reason at all. I am constantly asked if what I'm doing is "real" (as if a permanent tattoo were the only "real" form of body art), to which I proclaim... "No, IT'S ALL AN ILLUSION!" :P
